LIGHTFAIR 2009 Call for Speakers

The Evaluation Process
The 2009 Conference Advisory Committee is looking for a well-defined program encompassing the outlined topics. The Committee will evaluate all presentation submittals on the following criteria:
- Overall quality
- Depth and "how to"
- Relevance to defined topics
- Defined focus for the identified audience
- Practical applications of ideas
- Examples on how effects are achieved
- Timeline of presentation
- Past attendee ratings (if applicable)
- Good overall mix
- Presentation method

Notification of acceptance will be emailed in November 2008. Upon acceptance, LFI will require the completion of several documents as part of the Speaker Agreement.
 
Compensation
Seminar, one speaker: $750.00 honorarium and one complimentary night (room & tax) at a contracted hotel
 
Seminar, two or more speakers: $500.00 honorarium each and one complimentary night (room & tax) each at a contracted hotel
 
Workshop, one speaker: $875.00 honorarium and one complimentary night (room & tax) at a contracted hotel
 
Workshop, two or more speakers: $550.00 honorarium each and one complimentary night (room & tax) each at a contracted hotel

Note: All Speakers will receive a FullConferencePassfree of charge (offer does not include free admittance to two-day Institute or Master’s courses). Hotel night provided for out-of-town speakers only. Travel and incidentals will not be covered.

Payment of honorarium contingent upon providing master hand-out by deadline of April 1, 2009 and upon presentation being given for the entire allotted time.
 
If You are Selected
The following items are required as part of the Speaker Agreement. Strict deadlines apply.
- Short 150-word speaker bio for on-site introduction
- Signed Speaker Agreement/contract
- Additional audio/visual needs 
- W-9 taxation form for US citizens or 8233 form for international presenters
- Payment form outlining honorarium recipient (speaker, company or charity)  
 with correct address and tax ID number
- LIGHTFAIR International provides an officialLFI PowerPoint template
 
plus first and last page, required for use on all PowerPoint presentations 
- Reminder to attendees to complete survey
- Presentation must conclude with a 15-minute Question & Answer session
- Presentation must be given for the entire allotted time
- All panels must have a moderator responsible for meeting all deadlines

Handouts (Presentation Copies)
- Handouts/materials that support the presentation are required.
- Handouts must be uploaded to LFI site by April 1, 2009. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Links or general overviews will not be accepted.
- Handouts for in-depth workshops and 2-day courses can be submitted as
 PowerPoints or PDFs and will be distributed to course participants as hard
 copies (to be printed 2-3 slides per page).
- In our efforts to become a paperless conference, all seminar presentations
 will be offered as PDF files for attendees to download prior to the event.
- Notification and a final presentation is also required for LFI records if changes
 are made after April 2009.
 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your presentation must not be a sales pitch for any services, products or company and may not include corporate logos on slides. 

If LFI receives complaints that your presentation was in any way considered commercial or was not given for the alloted time, LFI reserves the right to waive your honorarium. Violation of the rules will also impact future speaker selection of you or anyone in your company.


 

 Please have your bio (300 words max), two  references and all the details for the course AND your co-presenters (if applicable) ready BEFORE you submit - the program will not allow you to stop and return to your submittal.   
   Requirements 
To be considered as a Conference speaker, you must first submit your proposal online  TODAY, September 29, 2008. 

Your submittal must contain the following:
- A 150- word course description indicating relevance to the outlined topic, plus three specific learning objectives
- Recommended audience(s) and level of presentation
- Pre-requiste list for advanced courses
- Name, title, mailing address, phone, fax, email and references of any co-presenter(s) - up to 3
- Contact names and titles, addresses, email and phone numbers of two associations or companies for which you have been a speaker, preferably within the last three years, as well as past course titles
- Special audio/visual equipment requests (LCD projector, screen and pointer are provided as standard equipment).
- One completed submittal
per topic
- Speaker bio or curriculum vitae (300-word maximum)
 
- Speaker's complete contact information
 
Timeline
September 29, 2008
FINAL deadline for submissions. All submissions must be made online at www.lightfair.com.
November 2008
Selection results sent to submitters.

December 2008
Speaker contracts, bios and A/V requests due.
 
April 2009
Handouts / Presentation due to LFI.
 
May 3 – May 7, 2009
LFI Conference in New York
