As a student volunteer at LIGHTFAIR International 2009 you will gain valuable knowledge, experience and unmatched networking opportunities with industry professionals – your future colleagues.
Who Can Participate?
· Student volunteers must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled as a full-time student at any level (undergraduate or graduate) at an accredited college or university.
· Student volunteers must sign up for a minimum of eight (8) hours of volunteer service.
· Student volunteers are required to attend volunteer Orientation on Saturday, May 2, 2009, 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Please note: Orientation hours are not included in your minimum of eight (8) hours of service.
What You Get!
In exchange for a minimum of eight (8) hours of volunteer service you will receive a FREE Student Conference Pass – a $525.00 value – that includes:
· Up to eight (8) 90-minute Seminars
· Free admission to the Exhibit Hall (Tue – Thur)
· Free admission to the LFI Innovation Awards
Students who register for more than eight (8) hours of volunteer service will receive the following:
· Up to eight (8) 90-minute Seminars
· Free admission to the Exhibit Hall (Tue – Thur)
· Free admission to the LFI Innovation Awards
· Full access to Institute Courses/Workshops* and Masters’ Courses
*Excludes LEED® and AGi32 courses, Keynote Luncheons & paid Networking Events
Lunch on each day of service, provided by on-site staff catering
How to Register
Follow these steps to register as a Student Volunteer:
- Review the Student Volunteer Packet. Please be sure you meet all the requirements and understand your responsibilities.
- Choose your Courses. Select the hours you want to volunteer and the Courses you want to attend. See the Attendee Brochure for Course descriptions.
- Register for your Volunteer Hours. Create your volunteer schedule online. *** VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. If you're interested in volunteering, contact Ruth Holmes.
- Send us the Volunteer Agreement. Review, sign and send the agreement.
- Receive your Welcome Letter. This letter confirms your final schedule.

Lodging/Housing
LFI does not provide lodging for volunteers, but affordable lodging is available through many channels, including Hostelling International New York (HINY). Feel free to visit the HINY website for more information on quality housing at reasonable student rates http://www.hinewyork.org/.
