Win-Win: The Way Forward
Hello Illuminators! We miss you too.
Various forums, surveys, and social media conversations confirm that you—the lighting design community—have missed connecting in person over the past year. We get it. Sure, we have a vested business interest in staging a well-attended LightFair, but there is more to it.
Being co-owned by the IALD, IES, and IMC means representing the combined vision: providing leadership and excellence in lighting design, to promote the art and science of quality lighting, and to provide an exceptional and compelling global platform to discover, learn, and collaborate. Our business goals and our vision of shaping the future of lighting innovation are intrinsically linked. When we stage a successful LightFair, it truly is a win-win for all.
The same may be said about the theme of this issue of our quarterly e-magazine. Technology that delivers energy savings, scalable green innovations, and environmentally responsible lighting design represent the convergence of what is right for the planet and for all those who call it home. Done well, smart choices deliver a true win-win.
Thank you for making LightFair a part of your lighting design journey. We will see you in New York this October 25-29 at the Javits Center.

When conventional solutions were not viable for a large housing development project in Dubai, LightFair exhibitor HEI took the opportunity to demonstrate the quality, reliability, and design of sustainable solar lighting solutions. The HEI team developed, manufactured, and supported the installation of more than 330 off-grid solar light poles with unique, vertically integrated cylindrical photovoltaics. Is Light Pollution Killing Us? |
And what can we do about it? Can the adverse impacts of irresponsible nighttime lighting on circadian rhythms, wildlife, ecology, and the environment be contained? Drawing upon his passion for responsible lighting and a 20-year career spanning lighting and controls design and lighting products distribution, Alessio Urso believes the solution is tricky but not impossible. |
