Martin Lesjak, CEO of INNOCAD Architecture, co-founded with designer Anastasia Su, the product design firm 13&9 in Graz, Austria. 13&9’s transdisciplinary team’s cooperation with specialist partners has led to creating product collections from concept through production in the spheres of lighting, furniture, floor coverings, fashion, accessories, exhibition and sound design.

Their work relies on the interplay between architecturally-inspired forms and fashion and explores issues such as modularity, compatibility, flexibility and transformation in development of new products. The overall results are unique designs that combine functional necessities and innovations with conceptual aesthetics, which also offer an emotional component, adding to the product value, "the soul" of 13&9 Design.

INNOCAD was founded in 1999 by Martin Lesjak and Peter Schwaiger. Since then, they have completed numerous projects of various sizes and scope in the different fields of architecture and interior design such as residential, office, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use, educational, public, and retail. The team is internationally renowned for their "out of the box" thinking and their analytical and pragmatic approach to architecture and design by creating solutions with purpose and meaning.

Anastasia Su and Martin Lesjak are frequent lecturers and speakers at various conferences and universities where they advocate their transdisciplinary approach when designing projects and products which have been recognized with numerous awards and in publications worldwide.

Anastasia Su

Anastasia Su is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of 13&9, a transdisciplinary product design firm based in Graz, Austria, that develops projects across multiple categories including furniture, lighting, floor coverings, fashion, accessories and art objects, as well as exhibition and sound design. In addition to her current design work, Anastasia has a medical doctor’s degree which forces her to consistently interpret and implement aspects of wellbeing into her design concepts and products. In addition to her role as Creative Director of 13&9, she also consults for INNOCAD Architecture. Since 2015 she is a guest lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences, FH JOANNEUM Graz, Austria and is a frequent speaker at diverse international events.

Martin Lesjak

Martin Lesjak is the CEO and Creative Director of INNOCAD Architecture and Co-Founder of 13&9. With a close-knit, connected infrastructure and a highly collaborative working philosophy, INNOCAD manages numerous architecture and interiors projects including residential, office, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use, retail and interior design. His foresight and expertise in architecture, design, and craft – as well as an affinity for art – leads these firms into innovative directions on a global scale. Together with his partners, Lesjak leads diverse international projects that combine creativity without boundaries. Martin Lesjak received one of the international architecture and design community’s top honors, “Designer of the Year 2015” by Contract Magazine, followed by “Architect of the Year 2016” by UK based magazine BUILD.

In January 2013 Martin Lesjak, CEO of INNOCAD Architecture, co-founded with designer Anastasia Su (Dr. Anastasija Lesjak), the product design firm 13&9 in Graz, Austria. 13&9’s transdisciplinary team’s cooperation with specialist partners has led to creating product collections from concept through production in the spheres of lighting, furniture, floor coverings, fashion, accessories, exhibition and sound design.

Their work relies on the interplay between architecturally-inspired forms and fashion and explores issues such as modularity, compatibility, flexibility and transformation in development of new products. The creative community at 13&9 is both a design studio for international companies - BUZZISPACE, MOHAWK GROUP, QUINZE & MILAN, LANDE, ARTIFORT, WEVER & DUCRÉ, ROBERT LA ROCHE, XAL, VITEO OUTDOORS - and its own label which produces and sells their own products. Uniting architecture, interior design, product design, fashion and sound design, INNOCAD and 13&9 have exhibited their diverse works in New York and Chicago (USA), Shenzhen (China), Taipei (Taiwan), London (United Kingdom), Milano and Venice (Italy), Berlin and Cologne (Germany), Zurich (Switzerland) and Graz (Austria).

Their designs seek to create a unique dialogue between the individual and the environment by expressing through design how we all are connected and impact one another. Finally, 13&9 is fully committed to producing their products in partnership with local manufacturers to support production in the collective’s immediate area and encourage responsible environmental practices across the board.

INNOCAD Architecture

INNOCAD was founded in 1999 by Martin Lesjak and Peter Schwaiger. Since then, they have completed numerous projects of various sizes and scope in the different fields of architecture and interior design such as residential, office, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use, educational, public, and retail. The team is internationally renowned for their "out of the box" thinking and their analytical and pragmatic approach to architecture and design by creating solutions with purpose and meaning. The team focuses primarily on their work’s quality and relevance as well adhering to a responsibility to cultivate a consistent vision as well as a team that is able transition their practice through multiple disciplines.

INNOCAD has completed various architecture and interior design projects such as INNOCAD’s homebase and mixed-use building Golden Nugget, "C34" and "FLUR20", two residential building complexes in Graz, Austria; as well as space planning and interior design for the Headquarter for Microsoft in Austria, the HQ Volksbank South Tyrol in Italy, Abdul Latif Jameel Investments office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; the Headquarters for Austrian Railways (ÖBB) in Vienna, the corporate architecture for XAL their headquarter in Graz and office in New York, Mohawk Group‘s showroom in Chicago, and the hospitality project "Fontana" - a redesign of a golf club house near Vienna.

Current projects include a mixed-use building in New York, the World Academy in King Abdullah Economic City in Saudi Arabia; the interior design for Saudi Arabia‘s Ministry of Economy in Riyadh, as well as a new hospitality design concept for the AccorHotels Group. Moreover, INNOCAD is in the construction stages for the headquarters of Raiffeisenbank in Salzkammergut in Austria and more projects located in Graz: the C+P Immobilien headquarters and a new exhibition design of the Museum of History.
