Call for Speakers


The LIGHTFAIR International Call for Speakers is a global invitation to top lighting and design practitioners looking to participate in the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference.

About the LFI Conference
The LIGHTFAIR® International educational program is the world's largest annual lighting conference. Opportunities consist of a two-day Pre-Conference program preceding the trade show called LIGHTFAIR Institute and the three-day conference program held concurrently during the LIGHTFAIR trade show.

2019 Conference Overview
For the 2019 LIGHTFAIR conference, experts are invited to submit ideas to share expertise and experience within the following focus areas: Lifeforms, Environments, Influences and Practices. These topics may be addressed in the context of Inspiration, Applications, Research, Design and/or Tools & Technologies.

Session Types

Proposals in one of the focus areas may be submitted for any of the following session types/lengths.
  • 60-minute sessions – a concise presentation of a single issue or topic; does not apply to panels
  • 90-minute seminars – a presentation or panel discussion of a single issue or topic
  • 3-hour workshops – an in-depth presentation of a single issue or topic, ideally incorporating demonstration and/or hands-on activity
  • 1-day courses – an in-depth 6-hour study of a topic
  • 2-day courses – a more comprehensive 12-hour study of a topic
  • Tours – an in depth exploratory discussion and visit to a local lighting installation or significant project
  • Forums – selected intermediate and advanced level sessions/seminars of a similar theme will be combined into a one-day forum during the Conference. Two forum opportunities are available: Health and Well-being; IoT and Smart Lighting. Submissions within these two topics, for sessions and seminars, may be considered for the forum program.


Specify the level of program.
  • Foundational – Introductory for emerging lighting professionals and/or others with limited to no experience on the topic
  • Intermediate – Moderate technical and/or design knowledge on the topic or at least 3-5 years of experience in the lighting industry
  • Advanced – Advanced technical and/or design knowledge on the topic or at least 7+ years of experience in the lighting industry
  • All Levels – General interest topic, appropriate for all levels of experience and technical knowledge

  • 60-minute session: one speaker $500 / two $350 each
  • 90-minute seminar: one speaker $750 / two or more $375 each
  • Workshop (3 hrs.): one speaker $875 / two or more $450 each
  • 1-day course (6 hrs.): one speaker $1,750 / two or more $900 each

All speakers will receive a 3-Day Conference Package (does not include free admittance to Pre-Conference courses). One complimentary hotel night per course day for out-of-town speakers. Travel & incidentals not covered.
